Miss Universe 2018
Via
Father: Ian Gray -Australian
Mother: Normita Ragas Magnayon - Filipina
Binibining Pilipinas Q&A
United States Ambassador to the Philippines Sung Kim: "After the devastating war - Marawi is now on its way to recovery, what will be your message to the young women of Marawi?
Gray: "...My answer and my message to the women is to be strong. As women, we're the head of household and we have amazing influence, not only in our own families, as mothers, sisters and friends, but also in our community. If we can get the women to stay strong and be that image of strength for the children and the people around them, then once the rebuilding is complete and underway, the morale of the community will stay strong and high..."
Miss Universe Q&A
Mis Universe 2018 Host Steve Harvey:
Gray: "I work a lot in the slums of Tondo, Manila and the life there is poor and very sad. And I’ve always taught to myself to look for the beauty of it and look in the beauty of the faces of the children and to be grateful. And I will bring this aspect as a Miss Universe to see situations with a silver lining and to assess where I could give something, where I could provide something as a spokesperson. And this I think if I can teach people to be grateful, we can have an amazing world where negativity could not grow and foster and children will have smile on their faces.
Congratulations
Catriona Gray

Screen-Printing Faults Glossary
Edge faults
Bleeding: 1. An enlargement of the image due to ink flowing beyond the boundaries of the stencil; 2. migration of colors into one another. Blocked edge: The printed edge is interrupted by unprinted voids.
Edge bubbles: Printed edges with irregularities caused by poor ink flow over previously printed edges or over edges that are parallel to the squeegee's length; also known as "skips and voids."
Double image: An overlapping light and dark double-edge resulting primarily from under-tensioned screens.
Edge dirt marks: Random imperfections along the image edges caused by dirt.
Edge mesh marks: A visible dot pattern along the image edge due to poorly cleaned screens.
Ink strings: Irregular, blurred edge caused by formation of tacky ink strings as the screen separates from the substrate.
Loss of detail: The space separating fine image elements is filled with ink.
Missing edge: The image edge is interrupted by "extensions" caused by missing stencil edges; opposite of "blocked edge."
Sawtooth: A raster or staircase appearance of the printed edge, usually caused by poorly prepared stencils.
Smear: Excessive ink deposit beyond the stencil edge that is caused by too much squeegee pressure or unwanted screen or substrate movement during printing.
Static strings: Forked hair-like extensions and dots of ink beyond the image edge due to static electricity buildup on the substrate and/or screen.
Area faults
Area dirt marks: Small unprinted openings in the image area caused by dirt on the substrate or in the screen. Not to be confused with "pinholes."
Area mesh marks: A texture in the printed ink surface that corresponds to the thread pattern of the mesh.
Enlarged image area: See stretched image under "Registration errors."
Fisheye: A small round or oval imperfection with a dark center. This problem is usually caused by ink/substrate incompatibility.
Ghost image: A faint image visible in the newly printed image, primarily caused by remnants of a previous stencil that was not completely cleaned from the screen.
Incomplete image: A portion of the image is missing due to artwork or stencil problems. An image can also be incomplete as a result of a poorly tensioned screen set at a high off- contact distance.
Moiré pattern: See various moiré problems under "Ink-color problems."
Mottling: A faint, irregular pattern in the image area that is caused by either differing rates of ink absorption into the substrate or minor differences in substrate thickness.
Orange peel: A small round or oval imperfection similar to a "fisheye" but with a light center. Like fisheye, this problem is usually caused by ink/substrate incompatibility.
Pinholes: Small printed dots in the non-image areas caused by a poorly processed stencil. Not to be confused by dirt marks in the image areas.
Reduced image area: See screen shrinkage under "Registration errors."
Streaks: Faint lines in the printed image area that are usually the result of poorly sharpened squeegees or damaged flood bars.
Uneven ink deposit: A visible color difference in the image caused by nonparallel press components and/or uneven squeegee pressure. See also dichroism under "Ink-color problems."
Registration errors
Image movement: Misregistration caused by lateral movement of the screen.
Misaligned artwork: Color-separated artwork that cannot be registered properly using the existing registration targets.
Misaligned setup: Misregistration caused by the initial, uncorrected misalignment of separated images (or images to substrate) during job setup.
Screen growth: An enlargement of the image area on the screen when compared to the film-positive image used to produce the stencil.
Screen shrinkage: A reduction in the size of the image area on screen when compared to the film-positive image used to produce the stencil.
Stretched image: A distorted enlargement of the printed image area in the direction of squeegee stroke when compared to the film-positive image used to produce the stencil.
Substrate growth: An enlargement of the substrate due to temperature and humidity changes between curing and subsequent processing. The substrate enlargement usually involves a corresponding enlargement of the image area.
Substrate movement: Unwanted movement of the substrate during printing due to mechanical problems or poorly set up registration guides.
Substrate shrinkage: A reduction in the size of the substrate noticeable right after curing. The substrate shrinkage usually involves corresponding shrinkage in the image areas.
Ink-color problems
Background mismatch: Undesired color change resulting from the combination of substrate background color and printed color. The background can affect the perceived color even if the printed ink layer is fully opaque.
Chroma mismatch: A poorly matched color that is brighter (or duller) than the color required.
Dichroism: A change in color due to thinner or thicker ink deposit than is required.
Hue mismatch: A poorly matched color that is visibly and measurably different from the required color.Tamas S. Frecska
Ink opacity: The ability of a given ink-layer thickness to hide the visual difference between a black-and-white background.
Ink transparency: The ability of a given thickness of ink to transmit a major portion of light without distorting or "clouding" the underlying images.
Low opacity: A change in opacity due to thinner-than-required ink deposit.
Value mismatch: A poorly matched color that is lighter or darker than the required color.
Process-color problems
Color order: The printing sequence of the four colors used in process-color printing that can affect the color appearance of the final printed product.
Dot gain: The enlargement of the printed dots due to low screen tension, underexposed screens, and poor printing-press setup (excessive off-contact distance and squeegee pressure). The net result is lighter-than-expected colors.
Film-to-film moiré: A moiré pattern that is inherent in the color-separated film positives, normally due to mistakes in the selection of halftone angles.
Film-to-mesh moiré: A moiré pattern that is caused by the interaction of halftone lines and mesh threads.
Ink density: The numerical value (as measured with a densitometer) of a solid block of any process-color ink after it is printed on a substrate.
Ink-to-ink moiré: A moiré pattern that develops as the third and fourth colors are printed, usually as a result of excessive ink-film thickness (most often seen as stacking of printed dots with UV inks).
Non-spec separation: Any color separation that does not meet the customer's or printer's specifications relative to halftone line count, screen angles, and color-density ranges.
Screen-to-substrate moiré: A moiré pattern that appears on a textured substrate (e.g., canvas); results from the interaction of the substrate texture, mesh, and halftone image.
Slur: A loss of dot and image definition due to smearing, bleeding, or substrate movement during printing.
Ink performance (curing related)
Abrasion resistance: The ability of the cured ink film to withstand rubbing and scratching action without visible degradation.
Adhesion: The force holding the cured ink on the surface of the substrate.
Blocking: The sticking action of undercured ink film that causes it to adhere to surfaces other than the one on which it was printed.
Chemical resistance: The ability of the cured ink film to withstand the chemical action of certain substances without experiencing physical (or visible) degradation.
Flexibility: The ability of the cured ink film to withstand repetitive bending without breaking, cracking, or delaminating from the substrate surface.
Weatherability: The ability of the cured ink film to withstand environmental and weather-related abuse (e.g., sun, wind, snow, water, etc.)
Ink performance (printing related)
Ink-film thickness: The vertical height of the ink deposit after curing.
Ink-film uniformity: The evenness of the printed surface and consistency of the overall ink-deposit thickness.

THE SILK SCREEN PRINTING PROCESS
Also called Screen Printing process nowadays, a printmaking technique in which a mesh cloth is stretched over a heavy wooden frame and the design, painted on the screen by tusche or affixed by stencil, is printed by having a squeegee force color through the pores of the material in areas not blocked out by a glue sizing. via
Some says that learning this kind of printing technique was easy as abc, but some were struggling to create a simple print on their own. On my own point of view, if you don't have any experience or seminars on this kind of field, you won't be able perfect a simple or a single color print in a snap. You must do a try and error act to perform a good print on your materials for your satisfaction.
One must have the patience and the passion, and also the ability to read, learn and observe to others.
Screen printing books are now hard to acquire, learning from others thru internet are limited but could help. Learning from seminars could help a lot but it will cost you some of your resources.
By clicking the link below, you could download the book The Silk Screen Printing Process book thru PDF by Biegeleisen and Busenbark, that was printed on 1938, 1941 and digitized by The Internet Archive on 2012.

| 1/2 Cup | White sugar |
| 1 tablespoon | Catsup, to color |
| 1 tablespoon | Cornstarch |
Preparation
- Pour Vinegar into pan, dissolve sugar, low-medium heat.

LABYU!"

Tip Sa Maliit Na Negosyo
Simple
Tips para MAKATIPID sa Pagsisimula ng Maliit na Negosyo
Okay,
you want to start a small business - a sarisari store. this is based on a true
story.
first let me tell you my scenario kasi i am not saying that all these tips will work verbatim in your negosyo.
tips lang po. may mga kamali me kasi at kung gusto mong makatipid, maybe this will help for you.
in my processing of my permit wala naman me naexperience na under the table transactions from the people i was dealing with. dito sa baguio, sa LTO lang naman, based on my experience ang nagkalat mga fixer. sa city hall naman ay i would say is minimal. one experience lang ang isa lang ay yung fireman na gumawa ng fire clearance certificate ko, kasi babayaran mo na sa city hall yung inspection fee nila kaya ibibigay lang yung certificate LIBRE dapat pero may ini-abot siyang envelope sa akin na may "mr. and miss magsayasay elementary school" yung mga contest contest ng mga beauty contest sa mga batang mag-aaral, i gave the kolokoy fireman, P50 and he gave me the certificate. and yung sewer certificate na ayaw ibigay sa akin dahil di raw legal ang sewer connection namin sa pwesto ng business. kumbaga nakaconnect kami sa kanal pero di raw legal ang connection. i am instructed to pay P1,250 (legalization fee daw oh) + P1,000 para sa saniatation engineer to inspect kuno. anyway, pumunta ako mismo sa head ng office at tinanung kung totoo pinagsasabi ni mr.kolokoy2 at yun, kinausap ko yung pinakaboss ng division at tinawag si mr.kolokoy2 sa office nya at kami tatlo nag-usap usap at tama nga daw na ganun ang babayaran. eh kung mismo na boss ang nagsabi kaya binayaran ko na nga.
i am renting a stall space, P5,000/month excluding city services. about 6 feet by 10 feet located in a community in baguio city but the owner said, i will just tell to the authorities, i am not renting, i am just a "relative" so i dont pay any rental fees. this is because my landlord doesnt have a business permit too hehehe. nagpapa rent siya ng 5 rooms pero wala siyang permit at ayaw nyang mabuko. mautak din ang landlord na eto.
so all forms that i have signed that asked how much is my rental fee?
i always write "P0.00/month - not renting" so marami nagtatanong, from the
very start na kumuha ako ng form to engage in a business sa city hall tinanong una yun, sabi "hindi ako
umuupa, ang lola ko at nanay ng may-ari ng bahay ay magkapatid." sa bir, when i register my business, tinanung ulit pag akoy umuupa, sabi hindi na naman. pero pinagawa ako ng BIR ng certification from the
house owner na hindi ako umuupa. madali lang naman "this is to certify that i, mrs [mayaman] is the owner
of this house located at xxx road, yyy brgy baguio city and that mr [moi20503618] is staying at my house and that HE IS NOT RENTING for the use of a room. etc etc. sedula no. xxxx signed mrs [mayaman] ganun lang and tapos na. nung pumunta ako sa cityhall, natapos na fire, sanitary, city architects etc. may pumunta ng taga cityhall sa pwesto at tinanung na naman ang kung umuupa, syempre hindi na naman. hanggang sa matapos. dun lang me sa real property taxes medyo sumablay kasi hindi naniniwala ata yung taga cityhall sa estorya kung kamag-anak ko ang may ari ng bahay yet magkaiba naman apelyido hehehe pero pinirmahan pa rin naman yung form. talagang, naguilty lang ako dat time, hinuhuli nya ata ako at mahirap po talaga magsinungaling. hehehe.
tip#1-ONE IS ENOUGH. TWO IS TOO MANY. the form will ask you where is your residence address and business address right? hmm, don't write 2 addresses. just write one. in reality i live in brookspoint and my business is in sto.nino brgy so what happened is that, i have to pay 2 separate garbage fees. kasi magkaiba raw. kung ang residence at business location ay iisa, then i dont have to pay 2 separate garbage fees. asar.
now i know. do you remember, that pag may truck ng basura we just basura and basura and
we are not paying anything? sure we pay our taxes but not literal na we pay garbage fees eh pag nagnegosyo ka na ay sisingilin ka na pala. bwisit.
tip#2-DONT TELL THE REAL DATE. in reality the business started october 2008, so when the pipol in city hall inspected the business site, my mom who was there (i was in my sayote garden kasi) told them the the business started october 2008, mahirap nga naman magsinungaling, eh dapat she must have told january 2009 business started para tipid. [its february 2009 now] ang nangyari pati mga sewerage/garbage fees sa 2008 ay ipinabayad pa sa akin. bwisit again.
tip#3-LOWER YOUR CAPITAL INVESTMENT. the city hall have there own bracket and taxation scheme for the payment of taxes for the initial capital investment. so the higher capital, the higher your taxes will be. originally i wrote P12,000 as my initial investment, kasi nga pag naggrocery naman ako ng mga benta benta ay eh, 3-4 kartoons lang more than P5,000 na ang halaga. well, a karinderia owner/neighbor/friend told me that investment is too high. so I changed it to P6,000.make it real low. at least convincing naman of course.
tip#4-HIDE YOUR INVENTORIES WHEN THEY'LL COME.hehehe. you know what, the city hall girl said they will come check the place in tuesday, but they actually came wednesday hahaha style nila, nanghuhuli pa!!! and, anyway, tapos na ang moro-moro. nakaset-up na place.i just show em real little, as in litlle inventory. hehehe. so nung nakita yung store, anung ginawa sa investigation report nila? the P6,000 initial investment was CHECK.hehehe. akala ko nga iisa isahin yung mga benta kung bibilahin at pag mas mataas total value (which is in fact true mas marami) ay papalitan nila ang value pero di naman. in fact napakasimple at mabilis ang pag inspect nila.
tip#5-NOW YOU SELL, NOW YOU DONT.as we all know, selling cigarettes and liquors requires a separate permit.so thats dagdag gastos. so even if i sell those, (i have to sell, them, as majority of my sales actually comes from selling those things) i have to hide them because the city hall girls actually asked and checked if i do have cigarettes and liquours for sale. of course nandun sa nakatago ah yung mga iyon kaya di me nahulian. what is so funny is that during that time of the investigation, walang bumili ng sigarilyo. funny. what a real coincidence. imagine my lying tongue that i told them i dont sell cigarettes tapos biglang, kuya pabili marlboro green while the two cityhall girls were there, e di SUPER BUKINGKING pero yun nga, amazing talaga, never na may bumili that time at nakaligtas me. another sub-tip actually is that, you can just write a poster on your store that says "NO LIQUOR, NO CIGARETTE" at ligtas ka na para yung kapitbahay ko sa brookspoint na may store, may poster kasi siyang "NO LIQUOR, NO CIGARETTE."
that's all folks. yan muna. more saving tips as this negosyo goes on....
